No, we're not talking about Virginia Division's Hangover Classic tournament. That event will be held January 6-7.

Capitol Division will be hosting the first annual "Hangover Co-Ed Open," duplicating an épée event that Metropolitan Division has been hosting for many years. Their event has developed a loyal following and is one of the more popular events each season.

Like Metropolitan Division, Capitol's tournament will be held on New Year's Day with check-in closing at 9:30 am. All fencers are encouraged to join in what should be a fun day of fencing.

The format is a complete round-robin (everyone fences everyone). Complete rules on how the tournament is run are available on the Capitol Division website. Although medals will not be awarded, several prizes will be, including:

1st Place: A bottle of Johnnie Walker Black (or a substitute if the winner is under 21)
Appropriate prizes will be awarded down to at least 12th place
A prize will be given to the highest placing member of each gender
A prize may be given to the person who finishes in last place

So mark Tuesday January 1 on your calendar and plan to join us (regardless of your condition that morning) to kick off a new DC tradition.
